MICK
Saxophone / all types of saxophones
I grew up loving music from a very young age.
HOW I GOT HERE:
I would dance to dad's jazz records. I would dance to my uncle’s Hooked On Classics records. I would dance to my grandad’s ABBA records. One day I watched The Blues Brothers, and that got me started on the saxaphone; I was ten years old.
MAJOR INFLUENCES:
Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker.
MAJOR SONGWRITING INFLUENCES:
Duke Ellington, Wayne Shorter, John Prine, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye.
IF I COULD PLAY IN ONE OTHER BAND:
Easy - Tedeschi Trucks band
SONGWRITING PHILOSOPHY IN A QUOTE/LYRIC:
“I can write the stuff and play it myself and have something in my head, but the best feeling is when somebody else plays it and they’re hearing something other than what I’m hearing” - Bill Frisell
